Over the weekend of March 2nd 2024 I joined the Music + Data Symposium alongside some of my old colleagues Stacy Huang, Anna Huang and Bob Sturm. It was so great to see everyone in person! My favorite takeaway from the conference was chatting Prof. Deirdre Loughridge. She teaches a class at Northeastern that spans the last 4000 years of human history in making musical instruments and recently published a book “Sounding Human” on the same topic (Thanks Deirdre for the copy!). It was also great to meet a lot of students who were excited by the talk and my focus on combining ML with music from the Asia-Pacific. You can watch the full talk via the YouTube link.
