This short set features one of the many tracks I’ve been composing for Thai choreographer Pichet Klunchun’s performance at the Taiwan International Festival for the Arts (TIFA 2024). Unlike my previous works, this song uses rhythmic stress patterns extracted from โขน “Khon” or Thai classical dance. They form the basis of all the beats and drums.
Compared to my previous award-winning track อสุระเทวะชุมนุม “Enter Demons and Gods”, I’ve discovered that switching the rhythmic DNA from “traditional electronic beats with kick and snare” to Thai patterns with กลองทัด and ฉิ่ง (Thai drums and percussion) creates bass music that hits different!
